Yoga and Massage for Whole Body Healing

About Tricia Pleasant , LMP

Tricia is a wonderful, dynamic teacher and massage therapist with a wellspring of strength that might surprise you. As a mother of two boys (14 and 16) she has been working on balance in life for years. She is an inspiration in her authentic quest to help create joy and purpose of existence for herself and others. She has been energetically aware since childhood and moves through life with a beautiful awareness of subtlety. She was assisting in dentistry when she began her first yoga teacher training with Ana Forrest and came to realize that her life was primed for a big shift. She decided to share the life changing effects that yoga has had for her with others through rededicating her life. She currently teaches and practices massage in her small private studio in Covington, subs regularly and practices massage on some Saturdays at Two Rivers Yoga in Carnation.  Her teaching and massage style are expansive with a strong focus on back care and healing specific injuries. She will help guide you to create great shifts in your body and your way of interacting with the world.

Having practiced yoga with severe scoliosis herself for years she was intrigued to find out how others address the issues of this body altering medical condition. She attended the Yoga for Scoliosis Teacher Training with Elise Browning Miller in 2008.  She incorporates these techniques and modifications into her regular classes for anyone with scoliosis or back injuries, making her classes a safe and supported place to practice yoga.

In 2010 Tricia committed to a year long mentorship program through Forrest Yoga to bring her teaching to a new level of excellence! This program taught deeper assisting techniques and brought a better understanding of injuries and how to help students work through them safely. The mentorship program will also assist her in finishing her 500hr certification, changing her status from an "Associate Forrest Yoga Instructor" to a "Certified Forrest Yoga Instructor" deepening her committment to the Forrest Yoga Community.

Attending Renton Technical College's Massage Therapy Practioner Program elevated Tricia's awareness of the body, it's energy and the relationship of tight, unmoving connective tissues and chronic pain in the body. She specializes in Specific Injury Treatment of conditions such as, but not limited to, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Carpal Tunnel, Sciatic Pain, Piriformis Syndrome, chronic pain and scoliosis. She uses a variety of massage techniques including Swedish Massage, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Hot Stone, Acupressure, Cupping, Tuning Forks, Hydrotherapy and Aromatherapy.
